The first SKLPC Executive Committee was elected on the 27th January 1973, with the first objective to acquire a base for our community. This was achieved in 1979 with the full support of the UK & Worldwide based community who donated towards the £32,000 purchase cost of the West Hendon premises
b)
Due to the expansion in numbers of our community in the UK, a bold step was taken in 1996 to acquire a 19-acre site for our community for £1.1m. This project was fully supported by our community and over a £1m was given by the community in loans and donations. All loans were repaid with 5 years
THE PRESENT:
a)
We purchased the freehold on 14th Feb 2005 for £835,000 for the 15.78 acres that had a short lease remaining at the Northolt premises. Our community fully supported this freehold purchase by providing loans and donations of over £835,000. As at 30th June 2006, SKLPC owes £605,000 in loan repayments to community members who have provided interest free loans over a 1-5 year period.
b)
Currently the SKLPC Executive Committee is fully utilised in keeping both centres and activity running (£300,000 annual turnover) through voluntary efforts with the full support of the community for the benefit of the community. These activities include Centre Management, Saturday School, Masti Music Group, Cricket Club, Football Club, Volleyball Club, Annual Function, Annual Magazine, Diwali Fireworks, Youth Group, Navratri, Saaheli Group, Senior Citizen Group, Business Unit and the Internet Group. Continuous investments in the facilities are being made to encourage better use of the facilities
THE FUTURE:
a)
The main focus over the next 3 years is a donation drive supported by all Gaams within our community to collect enough donations to repay the £605,000 loans outstanding for the Freehold purchase. We cannot embark on any major new projects, initiatives or investments until this debt is substantially reduced.
b)
Parking, security, link between the two halls and general hall improvements.
c)
Obtain planning consent for new hall development by 2007.
d)
